Published May 10, 2019Lana and Lilly Wachowski have had a robust career since The Matrix trilogy, exploring fantastical sci-fi tales through Jupiter Ascending, Sense8 and other projects. Still, they'll forever be known for Neo and his pills, so we're happy to report that it looks like The Matrix is coming back.
News of the new project broke via John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who told Yahoo Movies UK that he'd love to help with stunts on the project.
"I'm super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they're expanding what we all loved," he said. "And if it's anywhere near the level of what they've already done, it wouldn't take more than a call to go, 'Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy' and I would probably go and get hit by a car."
When asked for more details on the project, Stahelski said he wasn't entirely sure if both Wachowskis would be back in the directors' chairs, but he was certain that they'd be creatively involved.
A new Matrix reboot had previously been teased in 2017, with rumours swirling that Michael B. Jordan would star in the film. A new Matrix movie might also be the perfect opportunity for Will Smith to get involved.
Stay tuned for more news on The Matrix's return if and when it becomes available.
