Published Jun 28, 2019Seminal NYC hardcore unit Cro-Mags have unleashed their first new music in nearly two decades. It's arrived as a new EP called Don't Give In, and yes, it's available now.
The mini-release — which includes the new songs "Don't Give In," "Drag You Under" and "No One's Victim" — is out now via Cro-Mags' new label home of Victory Records (and via Arising Empire in Europe).
Right now, you can stream Don't Give In below or over here via the streaming service of your choice.
Don't Give In marks the band's first new material since 2000's Revenge. In 2019, Cro-Mags are led by Harley Flanagan, in addition to Gabby Abularach (who played on Cro-Mags' 1992 album Alpha Omega and 1993 effort Near Death Experience), Rocky George (who played on Revenge, plus Suicidal Tendencies and Fishbone) and drummer Garry Sullivan.
Speaking to Revolver about the new EP, Flanagan had this say:
I had a lot of inspiration writing these songs; I experienced a lot of loss — the loss of friends, by suicide, cancer, depression, mortality and ultimately the beauty of life; and the need to fight for it, for every breathe. We all fight our battles, and they are different, but none of us are unique in the fact that we have to fight, and often alone. In that way we all have something in common.
I feel like I crashed and burned enough times and managed to rise back up. But that is life; you have to fight for what you want, and you also have to know how temporary it all is. This is a lot of what inspired these songs.
