Published Apr 18, 2019Montreal artist Raf Wilcot has played a hand in plenty of fascinating projects over the years, from his time in the excellent Telstar Drugs through his work in the backing band for Un Blonde and Yves Jarvis. Now, he's stepping out on his own with a new solo single.
The song is called "Flashlight," and it's a complex pop arrangement that rewards repeat listens. The track was inspired by "literature about love and masculinity," as Wilcot uses its lyrics to implore others and himself to engage in open and honest communication in the face of patriarchy.
"Flashlight" utilizes harpsichord, guitar, abstract sound and other elements to create a perfect bed for Wilcot's vocals.
